In 1868, Japan announced that it would open its doors to the world, and begin a new era of innovation and exchanging information with the world. It wasn’t just for the experience of learning, it was for the survival of the country’s traditions and culture.

Japanese companies and government continue to work together to push technology in many ways. This session will focus on how Kyoto, one of Japan’s oldest cities, is using Drupal to provide data for research as well as improve public visibility.

We will cover the scope of the project, how we work with government entities in Japan, technical challenges related to data ETL, indexing and displaying data, and what future plans are for the project.
